What Is Icon™?

The Icon is an aesthetic platform equipped with two advanced light-based technologies to deliver safe, effective results in skin rejuvenation and hair reduction.

Icon laser treatments

A powerful non-ablative fractional laser concentrates energy into short, powerful pulses of light that heat up and break down damaged cells while stimulating elastin and collagen production.

This process removes cosmetic imperfections through the skin’s natural healing system, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Because the Icon targets only a portion of the skin at a time, the laser energy is precisely delivered to problem areas without damaging the surrounding tissue.

Icon IPL treatments

IPL therapy, sometimes called an IPL Photofacial, employs high-energy pulses of broad-spectrum light to treat various skin concerns. A gentler solution for skin imperfections and unwanted hair, IPL treatments don’t require any downtime.

PROCEDURE

What to Expect From Your Icon2 Column™ Treatment

Prior to your appointment, remove all oils, lotions or makeup from the treatment area. For hair reduction, avoid tweezing or waxing for at least two weeks before your session and shave 24 hours before your appointment.

Before your treatment begins, your laser technician will cleanse the affected area and may apply numbing cream to reduce discomfort.

Next, they’ll will guide a handheld device connected to the Icon machine over the treatment area. As the pulses of concentrated light make contact with your skin, you’ll experience a warm, stinging sensation. The procedure will take approximately 15–30 minutes.

Recovery and aftercare

Immediately following your appointment, you may experience redness, minor swelling or darkening of the skin. These side effects usually subside within 2–24 hours but may last for up to 4 days. Icon laser treatments require virtually no downtime: you may resume normal daily activities immediately.

In the days following your appointment, keep the area clean and moisturized and do use exfoliants, retinoids or perfumed creams. Avoid sun exposure for at least 48 hours; adding sunscreen to your daily skin care routine will prolong your results.

The Icon includes an advanced contact cooling system to increase your comfort and decrease the total number of treatments you’ll need.

TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHT

State-of-the-art Laser Technology

The first-of-its-kind Skintel melanin reader technology reads skin types and accordingly adjusts parameters for your skin tone, resulting in customized, highly safe treatments.

The dual-technology platform also allows providers to utilize multiple handpieces and treat different concerns during the same session.

For example, the popular ThreeForMe treatment uses both IPL and laser energy to address three major skin concerns–wrinkles, sun damage and facial veins–in a single session.

Other combinations are possible, too, such as using the MAXG handpiece to target vascular skin lesions and the Icon 1540 handpiece to address fine lines or dull skin.
